The threshing floor
Three men thrash the corn with flails to knock out the grain as the boy prepares to add a fresh supply and a girl with a basket reasures a dog which she keeps out of the way of the violent activity.
Two of Hedley’s large farming pictures, The threshing floor and The winnowing sheet, were hung together at the Royal Academy, London, in 1898.
